For 20 years, William H Willimon was dean of the chapel and professor of Christian ministry at Duke University. He served as pastor of churches in Georgia and South Carolina. A graduate of Wofford College, Willimon earned a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School and a Doctor of Sacred Theology from Emory University. He has been awarded honorary degrees from a dozen colleges and universities. In 1992, he was named the first distinguished alumnus of Yale Divinity School. He is the author of 60 books including Leading with the Sermon: Preaching and Leadership as well as Preachers Dare: Speaking for God. His work, “Worship as Pastoral Care,” was selected as one of the 10 most useful books for pastors in 1979 by the Academy of Parish Clergy.
