"Preaching as Moral Imagination"

Pouring Light

O, come, O Dayspring, come and cheer,                        O Sun of justice, now draw near       Disperse the gloomy clouds of night,      And death's dark shadows put to flight. Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel            Shall come to you, O Israel!                          - O Come,O Come Emmanuel

We wait for the Sun of justice to rise as Dayspring comes pouring light into our shadowy world.

Sometimes the world seems extra cloudy and it is hard to imagine the overwhelming light of salvation. Are there some gloomy clouds of night darkening your world this season?

During this time of anticipation may we see glimpses of God’s light breaking through those clouds and into our lives illuminating the work of the Spirit among us in the everyday and reminding us of the glory of salvation.

May our hearts be refreshed and our spirits renewed with these reminders. May we take comfort that life and death’s dark shadows are no match for the Sun of justice bringing light to our world no matter how cloudy the day.

Rejoice! Rejoice! For Emmanuel comes.
