Nashville Festival Charity Recap

It's hard to believe the Nashville festival is almost two months behind us. We hope you are all enjoying the slower paced summer months! Before we get full swing into the planning of the 2014 Festival in Minneapolis we thought a recap of some of the great charitable fundraisers from 2013 was in order. It was a really successful week and three groups benefited from your overwhelming generosity.

We invited the First Baptist Youth Group to hold a bake sale all week to help raise funds for their annual mission trip. You all helped them raise $1300.92. This amount surpassed their expectations and will cover the travel expenses for two of the participating seniors!

Our weeks Offering was for The Joseph School,  a planned boarding school for secondary education in Haiti. Working in partnership with the orphanages in Haiti, the school would identify gifted children and assist them to excel academically while learning to serve and to lead. The objective will be for students to attend a university and eventually assume a leadership role in Haitian society, churches, business, or government. Together you donated $9377.45 to this worthy cause!

Finally we invited Thistle Farms  to be a vendor in our festival resource fair. Thistle Farms is a  social enterprise that is run by the women of the Magdalene community. Magdalene is a residential program for women who have survived prostitution, trafficking and addition. The women create handmade natural bath and body products that are as good for the earth as they are for the body. Purchases of Thistle Farms products directly benefit the women by whom they were made.  Into every Thistle Farms product goes the belief that love is the most powerful force for change in the world. Our dream is that people will come to see Thistle Farms as a humble but powerful business. In the day and half that they were at the festival they earned $1856.00! You can continue to help them by shopping for their product online.
