Associate Minister at Union A.M.E. Church and Managing Partner of Say AMEN!
Raquel St. Clair Lettsome is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church with two decades of congregational ministry experience that transcends denominational lines. After serving 16 years as the first female Executive Minister of the historic St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Newark, NJ, she began consulting to assist pastors with ministry organization, professional planning, preaching, and teaching. She is now the managing partner of Say AMEN! (www.sayamen.org), a digital clearinghouse for preaching, teaching, and worship arts and serves as an Associate Minister at Union A.M.E. Church in Warwick, NY.
Dr. Lettsome is a graduate of Yale University (B.A.) and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div and PhD), where she was awarded the Presidential Doctoral Fellowship, the New Testament Fellowship, and the Expository Preaching Prize. Her publications include The African Presence in the Bible: Gospel Sermons Rooted in History (co-authored with Dr. William D. Watley) and Call and Consequences: A Womanist Reading of Mark’s Gospel. She also has articles in numerous journals and edited volumes including More Power in the Pulpit, Interpretation: A Journal of Bible and Theology, and The African American Lectionary.
Raquel Lettsome is the proud wife of the Rev. Lydell C. Lettsome, M.D. Together they parent their children, Tiffany Simone and Luke Charles.
