Otis Moss III currently serves as the senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ Church in Chicago, IL. He is an accomplished author and leading progressive Christian activist; part of a new generation of preachers who believe in the message that love and justice are inseparable entities forming the foundation of Christ’s message found in the Gospels. Rev. Moss is a popular speaker at conferences, churches and college campuses across around the world due to his creative and inspiring bible-based messages. His appeal reaches both the young and the old alike. Otis is a native of Cleveland, OH and has earned degrees from Morehouse College, Yale Divinity School and the Chicago Theological Seminary. He credits Zora Neale Hurston, August Wilson, Howard Thurman, as well as Jazz and Hip-Hop music as influencing his work. Otis views Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his father, Dr. Otis Moss Jr., as mentors in his spiritual formation. He is an ordained minister in the Progressive National Baptist Convention and the United Church of Christ, carrying dual standing in both denominations. Rev. Moss is a lifetime member of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, board member of the Christian Century Magazine and Chaplain of the Children’s Defense Fund’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor Child Advocacy Conference. He is married to Monica Brown and they have two children, Elijah and Makayla.
